Gulfstream Aerospace Rebrands Product Support Services As “Customer Support”
Gulfstream Aerospace’s Product Support organization is no more. In early June, the business aircraft manufacturer said it is rebranding its maintenance and support organization as “Customer Support” in a shift that “underscores the tremendous degree to which we prioritize and value our customers.”
No Customer, No Product
Derek Zimmerman, president of Gulfstream’s newly renamed Customer Support operation, notes that redubbing the organization puts its focus on the customer, where it should be. “Quite simply, there is no product without a customer,” he says, adding that caring for customers will remain the foundation of the company’s business.
With about 4,700 employees and a spare parts inventory valued at more than $1.6 billion that supplies 30-plus factory-owned and authorized maintenance facilities globally, Gulfstream claims its company-owned customer support network is the largest in the business aviation segment.
Beyond The Usual
Zimmerman singled out Gulfstream’s recently formed Aircraft Ownership Service program as an example of how putting customers first has been part of Gulfstream’s heritage since it began offering the Gulfstream I back in 1958. Gulfstream introduced AOS in fall 2017 as a turnkey maintenance and operations initiative for business-jet owners seeking “the convenience of private air travel as well as a simplified aircraft ownership experience.”
AOS entails Gulfstream supporting, operating, and maintaining aircraft for AOS enrollees during the lifecycle of the jet, according to Gulfstream. The company offers AOS enrollees a suite of offerings tailored to their specific needs and abilities from which to choose. “Designed by our customers, AOS provides more than a service and goes beyond the usual parameters of support. Under AOS, we become a true partner with our customers,” Zimmerman says.
