Gulfstream G650ER Business Jet Flies From Teterboro To Dubai In Record Time
It won’t be official until the National Aeronautic Association approves it, but Gulfstream Aerospace recently announced its G650ER business jet had set yet another world speed record with a flight from Teterboro, New Jersey, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The flight took place in early December, and the aircraft landed in time for the MEBAA (Middle East and North Africa Business Aviation Association) Show in Dubai. Gulfstream clocked the flight at 11 hours 2 minutes, shattering the previous record by 1 hour 48 minutes.
Making History
The G650 ER made the 6,142-nautical mile (11,375-kilometer) Teterboro-to-Dubai trip flying at an average of Mach 90. The jet’s maximum range is 7,500 nautical miles (13,890 kilometers) and its maximum operating speed is Mach 0.925. The latest record marks the G650 family’s 79th overall. In addition to the G650ER, Gulfstream also displayed its clean-sheet Gulfstream G500 and G600 business jets for the first time at MEBAA. The company’s super-midsized G280 and Robert J. Collier Trophy-winning G550 were also on hand.
“A Class By Itself”
Gulfstream says there are 325-plus G650 and G650ER aircraft operating globally, including more than 30 in the Middle East. Speaking about the G650ER, Mark Burns, Gulfstream president, said, “No other aircraft offers the high-speed range utility that the G650ER does out of high-demand airports like Teterboro. This proves yet again that the G650ER remains in a class by itself.”
