A charter operator based in Western Europe became the first European recipient of a Gulfstream G500 in late November when it took delivery of the business jet at Gulfstream’s headquarters in Savannah, Georgia. The EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) awarded the G500 its certification in mid-October. In addition to Europe, the 19-passenger twin-jet G500 is also in service in North America, Brazil, and the Middle East.

    Continued European Growth

Gulfstream introduced the all-new, clean-sheet G500 in 2014, and first flew the jet in 2015. The company entered the large-cabin model into service in 2018. Gulfstream President Mark Burns says that since introducing the aircraft, customers worldwide remain “impressed and enthusiastic” about the jet’s innovative cabin, high performance, speed, range, and Symmetry Flight Deck and other next-generation technology. “As the G500 fleet continues to grow in Europe and around the world, its advanced technology raises the bar for business aviation,” Burns says.

As part of the flight test program for the G500, Gulfstream sent the jet on a world tour to show potential customers the aircraft’s abilities and features up close. In addition to logging about 130,000 nautical miles (240,760 kilometers), the aircraft charted 22 city-pair speed records. Flying at Mach 0.90, the jet has a 4,400-nautical mile (8,149-kilometer) range. At Mach 0.85, that range extends to 5,200 nautical miles (9,630 kilometers).
