Dassault Aviation To Showcase Current & Future Falcon Business Jets At Singapore Airshow

In addition to the Falcon 8X (shown above), Dassault Aviation will showcase and provide information about its Falcon 6X, the flagship Falcon 10X, and the Falcon 2000LXS business jets at the Singapore Airshow taking place February 15 to 18. (Photo courtesy of Dassault Aviation.)

The biennial Singapore Airshow kicks off February 15 at the Changi Exhibition Centre, and French aviation company Dassault Aviation will be there highlighting its Falcon 6X, 8X, 10X, and 2000LXS executive jets. Senior corporate executives will be among those attending the air show, which includes flying and static displays and an Aeroforum where attendees can interact with industry experts. Dassault Aviation CEO and Chairman Eric Trappier says Singapore’s vitality and geographic location form an ideal backdrop for showcasing Dassault’s cutting-edge business jets.

“We saw great sales activity in the Asia-Pacific region last year, especially in Australasia and southeast Asia, and significant interest across our entire product line,” Trappier says.

    Big Doings In Asia-Pacific

The 16-passenger Falcon 8X tri-jet has been a top seller in the Asia-Pacific region since the first delivery there five years ago, Dassault notes. The plane’s 6,450-nautical-mile (11,945-kilometer) range allows it to fly nonstop from Hong Kong to London, Singapore to Zurich, or Beijing to New York City. The 2000LXS is also popular with corporate customers in the region, where more than 40 2000LXS aircraft are in service. The 2000LXS has a 4,000-nm (7,410-km) range and can fly nonstop from Singapore to Sydney or Singapore to Dubai; it possesses short-field abilities on par with smaller midsize business jets.

Dassault is currently beefing up its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services in the region, where more than 100 Falcons operate. Its wholly owned ExecuJet MRO Services entity is constructing a 144,000-square-foot (13,378-square-meter) facility in Kuala Lumpur that’s set to open in 2023 and double the company’s MRO capacity. Dassault says the first C check on a 2000LXS recently took place at the facility, which joins ExecuJet MRO facilities in Perth, Sydney, and Dubai as authorized heavy maintenance centers for Falcon 900s and 2000s.

    Falcons In Flight

In Singapore, Dassault will exhibit the 8X and 2000LXS, have a full-scale 6X mockup available, and provide details about the 10X, which is set for delivery in 2025. The 8X has the industry’s quietest cabin, and is up to 30% more fuel-efficient than competitors in the ultra-long-range segment, Dassault says. The 10-passenger 2000LXS features the widebody cross-section of larger Falcons like the 8X, and incorporates High Mach Blended Winglets that enhance lift but reduce drag by up to 7%. Dassault says the jet’s nearest competitor uses 20% more fuel and requires 20% more runway to land.

Dassault Aviation will have a full-scale mockup of its Falcon 6X on display at the Singapore Airshow. The 6X is to enter service this year with an award-winning cabin Dassault says is the quietest, widest, and tallest of any business jet on the market. (Photo courtesy of Dassault Aviation.)

    What’s New?

Dassault introduced the all-new 16-passenger Falcon 6X in 2018 as the first ultra-widebody business jet. The manufacturer says the 6X will enter service this year with the quietest, widest, and tallest cabin of any business jet now flying. The award-winning cabin includes the most interior space and most advanced cabin filtration and circulation systems in its class, Dassault claims. With its 5,500-nm (10,186-km) range, the 6X can fly nonstop from Singapore to Johannesburg or Beijing to San Francisco. Dassault will soon send a fourth production 6X aircraft equipped with a full interior on a world tour that includes several stops in the Asia-Pacific region.

The flagship 10X features a clean-sheet design with 38 windows that are nearly 50% larger than the 8X’s. The aircraft will provide the most window area and brightest cabin in business aviation, Dassault claims. The 10X will also use advanced noise reduction technologies that make it as quiet or quieter than the 8X, which currently has the lowest interior sound levels of all business jets, Dassault says. The modular cabin is the largest and most customizable in business aviation. At 9.1 feet (2.77 meters) wide, it’s nearly 8 inches (20.3 centimeters) wider than competitors’, Dassault says. The 10X has a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a 7,500-nm (13,890-km) range.
