Dassault Aviation Introduces The Falcon 6X Business Twinjet

    Posted On: March 1, 2018

Dassault Aviation unveiled the long-range Falcon 6X business jet in late February. The aircraft is to make its first flight in 2021, and deliveries are set for 2022.

Calling it the “most spacious, advanced, and versatile twinjet in business aviation,” Dassault Aviation unveiled the Falcon 6X in late February. The newest Falcon borrows heavily from the cancelled Falcon 5X’s aerodynamics and system features, and is scheduled to make its maiden flight in early 2021 and begin deliveries the following year.

    Setting The Standard

With a maximum range of 5,500 nautical miles (10,186 kilometers) at a cruising speed of Mach 0.80, Dassault claims the Falcon 6X offers a longer range than any other jet in its category. The 6X can fly directly from Los Angeles to Geneva, Beijing to San Francisco, or Moscow to Singapore at Mach 0.80; at Mach 0.85, it can fly from New York City to Moscow, Paris to Beijing, or Los Angeles to London. The Falcon 6X’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PurePower PW812D engines give the aircraft a top speed of Mach 0.90.

“We wanted to further push the boundaries with this new aircraft, to provide the best flight experience possible using today’s aviation know-how,” says Eric Trappier, Dassault Aviation chairman and CEO. “The Falcon 6X will offer a mix of range, comfort, and capability no other large-cabin business jet can match while guaranteeing fully mature systems and a proven power plant.”

The 6X will also feature an “ultra-efficient wing” designed to minimize the effects of turbulence and a next-generation digital flight control system that controls all moving surfaces, including the aircraft’s flaperons. Dassault says the 6X is the first business jet to use flaperons, by the way, and says their use “considerably improves control during approach, especially on steep descents.” The 6X will also include an all-new cockpit, the third-generation EASy III all-digital flight deck, Dassault’s FalconSphere II electronic flight bag, and the FalconEye Combined Vision System.

Dassault Aviation’s upcoming Falcon 6X business jet will use Pratt & Whitney Canada PurePower PW812D engines.
    “A Very Large Cabin”

Measuring 6.6 feet (1.98 meters) high by 8.6 feet (2.58 meters) wide by 40.4 feet (12.30 meters) long, the 6X’s cabin will offer the “highest and widest cross section in a purpose-built business jet,” Dassault claims. Able to fly 16 passengers, the cabin will include three lounge areas and support various configurations. “There is still today a strong market need for a brand-new, long-range aircraft with a very large cabin. The Falcon 6X will be best value for money in the 5,000 nm segment, a class all its own,” says Trappier.

Dassault indicates the 6X will feature a five-inch wider aisle vs. previous Falcon aircraft, as well as a skylight, 28 extra-large windows, and continuously refreshed cabin air.

Dassault Aviation entered the civil aircraft sector in the mid-1960s with the Falcon 20 and has delivered roughly 2,500 business jets to date. The Falcon business jet family currently includes the Falcon 8X, 7X, 900LX, 2000LXS, and 2000S; the company also manufactures military aircraft. You’ll find numerous new and used Dassault aircraft for sale on Controller.com, including Falcon 7Xs, 50s, 900s, 2000s, and many others.

Dassault claims the new Falcon 6X will be the “most spacious, advanced, and versatile twinjet in business aviation.”
