Piper Aircraft M600 To Appear At FIDAE; First Appearance Ever At South America Event
For the first time, Piper Aircraft will display its flagship M600 single-engine turboprop at an event in South America when the six-seat M600 touches down at the biannual FIDAE (Feria Internacional del Aire y del Espacio) in Santiago, Chile, from April 3-8. The Vero Beach, Florida,-based Piper Aircraft is partnering with Aeroneed, the company’s Chilean dealer, to bring the M600 to FIDAE, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the 2018 version of event that’s described as Latin America’s most important aerospace, defense, and security exhibition. Targeted at business and personal uses, the M600 is part of Piper’s M-Class series of single-engine turboprop models. The series also includes the M500, M350, and Matrix aircraft.
What They’ll See
With the 2015-introduced M600, FIDAE attendees will see an aircraft that features a clean-sheet design as well as numerous updates. Updates include Garmin G3000 avionics glass flight deck and premium leather and high-end trim throughout the cabin. Piper also makes available various personalized design packages for M600 buyers. Other improvements over the M500 include the M600’s use of a more power Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42A 600shp engine and a Hartzell 4-blade propeller.
Supporting a useful load of 2,400 pounds (1,089 kilograms), the M600 has a maximum cruise speed of 315.2 mph (507 km/h), maximum 1,484-nautical mile (2,748-kilometer) range, 260-gallon (984-liter) fuel capacity, 2,635-foot (803-meter) takeoff distance, 2,659-foot (810-meter) landing distance, and 30,000-foot (9,144-meter) maximum approved altitude.
“Ultimate Business Tool”
In a news release, Dan Lewis, Piper Aircraft South American sales manager, dubbed the M600 as the “ultimate business tool” and said the aircraft is ideally suited for the Latin American market due to its performance, range, and comfortable cabin. “From Santiago, the M600 can take you and your team nonstop to Sao Paulo, La Paz, or Lima at a fraction of typical operating costs and over $1 million less than its closest competitor,” Lewis said. “We are looking forward to working with our network of agents and dealers as we demonstrate the capability of the M600 throughout the region.”
Of FIDAE, Drew McEwen, Piper Aircraft vice president of international and direct sales, characterized the exhibition as “a vital and growing international aerospace event that addresses the full scope of commercial, military, and business aviation interests.” For those reasons, McEwen touts FIDAE as the “ideal business platform” for the company and its South American dealers to showcase Piper’s product line, including the company’s line of trainers and its business aircraft.
Piper’s trainer aircraft class includes the Warrior, Archer TX, Archer DX, Arrow, Seminole, and Seneca V. If you’re in the market for a new or pre-owned Piper airplane, Controller.com has numerous trainers and M-Class models available for sale.
