Textron Aviation Touts Class-Leading Deliveries Of Cessna Citation Latitude

    Posted On: March 6, 2018

Textron Aviation says deliveries of its Cessna Citation Latitude increased 30% in 2017 over 2016 deliveries, making the aircraft the most delivered midsized business jet for two years running. (Photo courtesy of Textron Aviation.)

Citing a 30% increase in deliveries in 2017 from 2016, Textron Aviation recently declared its Cessna Citation Latitude as the most delivered aircraft in the midsize business jet category last year. That marks the second consecutive year for that distinction, says Textron, which in addition to Cessna aircraft is home to the Beechcraft and Hawker brands. Since entering service in 2015, a global fleet of 112 Citation Latitudes has logged 65,000-plus flight hours and received certification in 43 countries.

    “Billion-Dollar Business”

2017 was a good year for the Citation Latitude program. Besides the aircraft earning its steep approach certification to expand it operational abilities, Textron made its 100th Latitude delivery and its first delivery of a medevac configuration based on the Latitude platform. In a statement, Scott Ernest, Textron Aviation president and CEO, said the Citation Latitude’s reign as the most delivered business jet in its class stems from the company’s product development strategy connecting with customers while also invigorating the market.

“In less than two and a half years, the Latitude is on track to become a $1 billion business, making it one of the most successful and sought after aircraft on the market,” Ernst said. “As the Latitude continues to gain traction with customers across the globe, its success is paving the way for the super midsize Citation Longitude.”

Textron recently debuted its longer Citation Longitude—73.2 feet (22.3 meters) compared to the Latitude’s 62.3 feet (19 meters)—in the Asia-Pacific region at the 2018 Singapore Airshow. The aircraft, which first flew in 2016 and has a 3,500-nautical mile (6,482-kilometer) range, is currently on a global demonstration tour and is reportedly nearing certification with deliveries set for mid-year.

    Inside The Latitude

Able to make a 2,700-nautical mile (5,000-kilometer) jaunt with four passengers at a high-speed cruise of 446 KTAS (826 km/h), the Latitude also offers a 3,580-foot (1,091-meter) takeoff field length that leads its class, according to Textron. The aircraft sports two Pratt & Whitney PW306D1 FADEC-controlled turbofan engines, integrates Garmin G5000 avionics, and supports a maximum 2,544-pound (1,154-kilogram) payload.

Seating up to nine passengers, the Latitude’s cabin features a flat door and 6-foot (1.8-meter) height, as well as a wireless cabin management system, new cabin cooling system, and new pressurization system that supports a 5,950-foot (1,814-meter) cabin altitude at the aircraft’s maximum 45,000-foot (13,716-meter) operating altitude.
