Bombardier Beefs Up Mobile Response Team Ahead Of Global 7500 Launch
Montreal-based Bombardier recently announced an addition to its Mobile Response Team, which distributes parts to the company’s customers around the globe and that to date has been served by a dedicated Learjet 45 based in Chicago. Bombardier says it will add a Challenger 300 to the team in advance of the launch of the upcoming Global 7500 long-range business jet, and will base the aircraft in Frankfurt, Germany, for easy access to its primary European parts distribution hub located near the Frankfurt International Airport.
The Name Game
Originally named the Global 7000, Bombardier renamed the new jet in late May to reflect various performance improvements the aircraft demonstrated during flight tests that exceeded the company’s original expectations. Bombardier also increased the Global 7500’s maximum flight range from 7,400 nautical miles (13,705 kilometers) to 7,700 (14,260 kilometers).
Bombardier touts the Global 7500 as the industry’s largest and longest-range business jet. With a top speed of Mach 0.925, the Global 7500 offers a maximum 51,000-foot (15,545-meter) operating altitude and measures about 105 feet (34 meters) long. Featuring four distinct living spaces, a full kitchen, and a dedicated crew suite, the 7500’s cabin measures 6.3 feet (2 meters) high x 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) wide x 54.6 feet (16.7 meters) long. Bombardier says the airplane can connect more city pairs than any other business aircraft and is the only one able to connect New York to Hong Kong and Singapore to San Francisco.
A New Level
Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Bombardier Business Aircraft vice president and general manager, customer experience, says adding the Challenger 300 to its response team will elevate its response services. “Over the past five years, we have consistently seen the rise of our fleet reliability across all of our aircraft platforms,” says Gallagher. “Now, with the combination of a fast, reliable, super-midsize aircraft with the ready availability of parts and our skilled technicians, we are bringing our response services to a new level."
Bombardier plans to use the Challenger 300, which entered service in 2004, to shuttle parts and technicians to quickly resolve issues concerning grounded aircraft from the company’s Learjet, Challenger, and Global families. The Challenger 300’s range (3,065 nautical miles; 5,676 kilometers), Mach 0.80 top speed, and ability to fly in and out of challenging airfields will enable it to provide additional support during unscheduled maintenance events, Bombardier adds.
