Textron Aviation Declares Cessna Citation Latitude Best-Selling Business Jet For 2018
Textron Aviation, owner of the Cessna, Beechcraft, and Hawker aircraft brands, recently reported that it delivered 188 business jets in 2018, including 57 Cessna Citation Latitude aircraft. That leaves the Latitude as the midsized segment’s top seller for the third straight year, outselling “its closest competitor four to one,” says Textron, which pointed to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association’s (GAMA) annual billings and shipment report in claiming Citation aircraft “were the most-delivered business jets” last year.
Worldwide Success
Rob Scholl, Textron Aviation senior vice president, sales and marketing, says Citation aircraft topping business-jet deliveries last year indicates the trust Textron’s customers place in the Citation family. “We’re honored to see that customers and operators have responded by making the Latitude their midsize platform of choice for three years running.”
Textron entered the Cessna Latitude into service in 2015. Since then, the Latitude’s global fleet has totaled 150,000-plus flight hours. Last year, the nine-passenger jet received certification in China and Australia, bringing the jet’s worldwide total to 43 countries.
A Class Leader
Carrying four passengers, the Citation Latitude can fly 2,700 nautical miles (5,000 kilometers) at a high cruise speed of 446 KTAS (513 km/h). The jet uses dual Pratt & Whitney PW306D1 FADEC-controlled turbofan engines and has what Textron says is a class-leading takeoff field length of 3,580 feet (1,091 meters).
