Dassault Completes Critical Design Review For New Falcon 6X

    Posted On: May 23, 2019

Dassault Aviation has announced that it has completed the design review phase for its upcoming Falcon 6X business jet. Dassault expects to begin the first assembly of the aircraft next year, take it on its maiden flight the next year, and begin deliveries in 2022. (Photo courtesy of Dassault Aviation.)

Dassault Aviation Chairman and CEO Eric Trappier recently stated that an aircraft manufacturer completing the design review phase for a new aircraft and releasing it to the manufacturing process is a big deal. He should know, as Dassault Aviation recently did just that with its upcoming ultra-wide-body Falcon 6X business jet. The jet will make its maiden flight next year and begin deliveries in 2022. Trappier says the milestones demonstrate Dassault’s “confidence in the airframe and engine design, as well as in the collaborative process we have put in place with our global partners." Assembly of the first Falcon 6X is set for next year.

    Meet The Falcon 6X

Dassault claims the Falcon 6X will feature business aviation’s most advanced fly-by-wire system and tallest (6.5 feet; 1.98 meters) and widest (8.5 feet; 2.59 meters) cabin, as well as the quietest and most comfortable cabin in its class. The quiet performance stems from use of what Dassault says are industry-leading noise-suppression systems. Elsewhere, the jet will feature an all-new cockpit, third-generation EASy III all-digital flight deck, FalconSphere II electronic flight bag, and Dassault’s FalconEye Combined Vision System. The latter is the first HUD (head-up display) to combine enhanced and synthetic vision abilities, Dassault says.

In completing the critical design review phase, Dassault also froze detailed design on the aircraft and began manufacturing major parts. The Pratt & Whitney Canada PurePower PW812D engines the Falcon 6X employs have undergone roughly 1,000 hours of testing runtime via five development engines. Trappier says, “The PW812D engine program continues to achieve milestones in line with the initial program plan, with high-risk tests almost all completed.”

    Nonstop Connections

Offering a maximum flight range of 5,500 nautical miles (10,186 kilometers), the Falcon 6X can fly nonstop from Los Angles to London, Sao Paulo to Chicago, or Paris to Beijing at Mach 0.85. (The jet tops out at a maximum speed of Mach 0.90.) Besides the Falcon 6X, Dassault produces the Falcon 8X, Falcon 7X, Falcon 2000S, Falcon 900LX, and Falcon 2000S business jets.

Controller.com is the place to be for thousands of new and used business jets for sale, including Dassault Aviation Falcon 7Xs, Falcon 900s, Falcon 2000s, and Falcon 50s.
