Diamond Aircraft To Deliver 11 DA40 NG & DA42-VI Piston Aircraft To Flight Trainer Blue Line Aviation
Following a recent order for 10 new jet fuel-burning DA40 NG and one new DA41-VI training aircraft from Diamond Aircraft, flight training provider Blue Line Aviation’s fleet now numbers 22 aircraft. Of those, 20 are jet-fuel burning pistons from the Austria-based Diamond. Set for delivery over the coming 18 months, the order notably comes less than a year after the Smithfield, North Carolina,-based Blue Line Aviation ordered six DA40 NGs and one DA42-VI.
“A Strategic Competitive Advantage”
Founded in 1981, Diamond Aircraft is a subsidiary of China’s Wanfeng Aviation that manufactures single- and twin-engine piston DA40, DA42, and DA62 models. The company is also developing an upcoming DA50 series. Aircraft marketing and sales firm LifeStyle Aviation distributes Diamond aircraft in the United States and facilitated the order from Blue Line Aviation, a member of the LifeStyle Aviation Network of flight centers, affiliates, and partners since 2012.
Trey Walters, Blue Line Aviation owner and founder, says his company purchased Diamond jet-fuel burning aircraft rather than gas-burning due to the “strategic competitive advantage” they provide. “They’re more reliable and easier to maintain than older gas engine aircraft,” he says. The recent Diamond order factors into a $13 million, 50,000-square-foot training facility Blue Line is building at Johnston Regional Airport in North Carolina.
“The Perfect First Airplane”
Diamond offers the single-engine, four-seat DA40 with either gas or jet fuel-burning engines and bills the 940-nautical-mile (1,740.9-kilometer) aircraft as “the perfect first airplane” for new aviators or for “an experienced IFR pilot with discerning tastes.” The four-seat, twin-engine DA42-VI, meanwhile, provides a 1,215-nautical-mile (2,250.2-kilometer) range and features Garmin G1000 NXi avionics.
Controller.com has scores of new and used planes from Diamond Aircraft for sale every day, including DA62s, DA42s, DA40s, and DA20s.
