October was a big month for Bombardier, as the business jet manufacturer’s new 17-passenger Global 6500 made its worldwide debut at the recent NBAA-BACE (National Business Aviation Association—Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition) in Las Vegas. Additionally, earlier in the month, the Global 6500 and Bombardier’s new 16-passenger Global 5500 received their EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) certifications, leaving them ready for flight in the European Union. In September, the aircraft received their Transport Canada type certifications. Bombardier expects both aircraft to receive Federal Aviation Administration certification soon, as well.

    “Unrivalled Performance”

In addition to the Global 6500, Bombardier had its flagship Global 7500, Challenger 350 and 650, and a full-size mockup of its new Learjet 75 Liberty business jet available at its static display at the show in Vegas. David Coleal, Bombardier Aviation president, said the Global 6500 and 7500 “redefine the standard in the industry for unparalleled cabin comfort, advanced technology, and unrivalled performance.”

Bombardier has said it expects the Global 6500 and Global 5500 to enter service yet this year. The company recently added 200 nautical miles (370.4 kilometers) to the Global 5500’s flight range, leaving it at 5,900 nautical miles (10,926.8 kilometers) at Mach 0.85. The Global 6500 has a 6,600-nautical mile (12,223-kilometer) flight range. The aircraft are updates of Bombardier’s Global 5000 and Global 6000 models, respectively, and both use custom-designed Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines that the aerospace company says offer enhanced aerodynamics, blade cooling, and advanced engine health-monitoring systems.

    Nuage Seating Available

In addition to the new Pearl engines, the Global 5500 and 6500 feature Bombardier’s Vision Flight Deck, and both will debut Bombardier’s Nuage chaise seating. The latter is described as “business aviation’s first and only lounge chair that converts into a flat surface for sleeping or banquet-style dining around the conference grouping table.”

Controller.com has a huge inventory of new and used Bombardier business jets for sale every day, including Bombardier Global 7500, 6000, and 5000 models for sale, as well as Challenger and Learjet models.
