Citing annual shipment and billing statistics for 2019 from the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), Textron Aviation says it delivered more business jets last year than any other manufacturer in its segment. Moreover, Textron—owner of the Cessna, Beechcraft, Hawker, and other aviation brands—says the Cessna Citation Latitude was the most-delivered midsized business jet for the fourth straight year. With 7,700 Citation jets delivered worldwide, Textron claims the Cessna Citation jet fleet is “recognized as the most popular series of business aircraft ever produced.”

    “A Powerful Business Tool”

The Citation family includes the 12-passenger Longitude, the nine-passenger Latitude, the 12-passenger Sovereign+, the 12-passenger XLS+, the 10-passenger CJ4, the nine-passenger CJ3+, and the seven-passenger M2. Textron says it delivered 206 Citation units in 2019, roughly 60 more than the nearest competitor. For 2019, Textron delivered 58 super-midsize Citation Latitudes. Ron Draper, Textron Aviation CEO and president, says, “Citation jets have redefined the general aviation industry and established aviation as a powerful business tool.”

For the entire industry, GAMA reportedly found that total airplane billings for 2019 reached $23.5 billion, up 14.3% from 2018’s $20.6 billion. Deliveries of piston aircraft reportedly jumped 16.4% from 2018 to 2019 based on 1,324 shipments for 2019, compared to 1,137 for 2018. Turboprop deliveries dipped 11.3% from 2018 to 2019 based on 592 deliveries in 2018 vs. 525 last year. Business jet deliveries climbed 15.1% from 703 in 2019 to 809 in 2019. Combined, total aircraft units reached 2,658 for 2019, a 9.3% increase from 2018’s 2,432.
