Gulfstream’s upcoming 19-passenger G700 business jet has won a 2020 International Yacht & Aviation Award for its G700 Classic Seat—a not-too-surprising achievement considering Gulfstream’s G500 and G600 business jets won the same award in 2018. Gulfstream describes the seat as a “timeless silhouette updated with intricate details and curves that reflect the overall G700 cabin design and architecture.” Expected for 2022 deliveries, the G700 is billed as the “business jet industry’s new flagship” and as offering the segment’s “most spacious cabin.” The International Yacht & Aviation Awards are hosted by design et al and Luxe et al magazines.

    For All Body Types

The Classic Seat features an enhanced customization design with side and back paneling and veneer, paint, leather, and textile accent options. Gulfstream business jet buyers work with Gulfstream designers and artisans to select their preferred material and stitching, piping, and other personalization preferences. Gulfstream’s R&D team crafted the seat by starting with a clean-sheet design it “matured through meticulous modeling and extensive comfort studies,” Gulfstream says. The result is an “organic, anatomical shaping that enhances comfort for all body types.”

“I am proud of the Gulfstream team that worked diligently to build on our excellence in cabin comfort,” says Gulfstream President Mark Burns. “Behind this award is a team of the industry’s most talented engineers, designers and craftspeople, who combined innovation and artistry to create a seat that is both comfortable and beautiful. It’s a perfect complement to the Gulfstream Cabin Experience that enhances wellness and increases productivity.”

Gulfstream introduced the G700 in October 2019, and claims it can “fly further faster than any other business aircraft.” The jet has a 7,500-nautical-mile (13,890-kilometer) range and maximum speed of Mach 0.925. Its interior features up to five configurable living spaces and what Gulfstream says is the industry’s only ultra-galley with a passenger lounge or crew nest. The aerospace manufacturer says the cabin, which measures 6.3 ft. (1.9 meters) high, 8.2 ft. (2.5 m) wide, and 56.92 ft. (17.34 m) long, is the industry’s tallest, widest, and longest.
