Embraer Offers VisionSafe EVAS System For Praetor 500 & 600 Business Jets As Aftermarket STC Upgrade

Embraer’s Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 executive aircraft are now available with the safety-enhancing EVAS (Emergency Vision Assurance System) smoke-displacement system from VisionSafe. (Praetor 500 shown above; photo courtesy of Embraer.)

Embraer says its Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 executive jet models are now available with VisionSafe’s safety-enhancing EVAS (Emergency Vision Assurance System) as an aftermarket upgrade. VisionSafe invented, manufactures, and distributes EVAS, and will issue the upgrade as a supplement type certificate (STC).

Embraer says EVAS is the only Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-certified cockpit smoke-displacement system available in the aviation industry. The system measures 10 x 8.5 x 3 inches (height x width x depth) when stowed, weighs 5.5 pounds (2.5 kilograms), has a 15- to 20-second deployment time, and can run for at least two hours on its integrated battery. More than 8,000 EVAS units have been installed worldwide.

    Committed To Safety

According to Embraer, in the event of cockpit smoke EVAS provides a clear air space through which pilots can see flight instruments and through the windshield to land the aircraft. Embraer previously made the system available as an upgrade for its Legacy 450, 500, 600, and 650 models and the Lineage 1000. EVAS is also available for Embraer’s Phenom 100 and 300 models as loose equipment.

“Embraer’s constant commitment to safety is reaffirmed in announcing this partnership with VisionSafe,” says Chris Skurat, VisionSafe director of sales for business aviation. “Having EVAS available as an STC on Embraer’s flagship Praetor aircraft is a milestone for business aviation. We are thrilled to announce EVAS is now available on all Embraer business aircraft, giving their clients the option of adding EVAS to their aircraft as an aftermarket upgrade.”

    The Praetors In Action

Embraer claims its Praetor 500 and 600 are the most disruptive and technologically advanced midsize and super-midsize business jets available. The Praetor 500 has a 3,340-nautical-mile (6,185-kilometer) range, and the Praetor 600 a 4,018-nm (7,441-km) range.

Both models feature a 6-foot (1.8-m)-tall cabin, a Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion flight deck, and Honeywell HTF7500E engines. The Praetor 500 can seat up to nine passengers and has a 24-ft (7.3-m)-long cabin, while the Praetor seats up to 12 passengers and has a 27.5-ft (8.3-m)-long cabin.
