Gulfstream Teams With Savannah Organizations To Give Army Veteran New Home
Savannah, Georgia,-based Gulfstream Aerospace recently teamed with Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity and other community partners in the Savannah area to build a new home and present it to a U.S. Army veteran who was wounded during deployment in Afghanistan. Employees from the company provided more than 1,000 volunteer hours to help construct the home.
Selfless Service
Gulfstream President Mark Burns says construction of the home, which was sold for no profit and with no interest, exemplifies the “spirit of community stewardship” Gulfstream possesses. “We could not be more motivated to build a home for a family who has selflessly served—and continues to serve—our country,” Burns says. “In addition to our employees, I would like to thank Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity and our partners for turning the dream of homeownership into a reality for this family.” The recipient of the house currently serves in the Georgia Army National Guard.
Community Commitment
Gulfstream and Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity began construction on the house in February, and Haverty’s Furniture in Savannah provided furniture for the home. Harold Tessendorf, Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity executive director, praises Gulfstream’s contributions.
“Since late 2017, the Gulfstream planning team has worked tirelessly alongside us to plan and support this Habitat house,” Tessendorf says. “The number of hours and resources dedicated to the home by Gulfstream leadership and employees speaks volumes about the character of their employees and the company’s genuine commitment to the community.”
